girls playing the violin

Form 1 News

1st February 24

We have been extremely busy in Form 1 since we returned to school after Christmas.  We have been learning about maps, countries, continents and the world in Geography.  The girls have been very keen to learn the ‘Continents song’ which you may hear a few times at home as it is quite catchy! Sorry!

We have also been busy with our Maths work.  The girls are now making lots of connections with the foundations we have put in place in the Autumn Term and they can now ‘see’ connections by themselves and they are delighted by this.  Recently we have found how ‘easy’ bonds to 20 are because of how well they have learned bonds to 10! Its a magical time for them when the penny drops! We have used 1 Minute Maths and Hit the Button to help us with our quick mental maths and this is something that can be reinforced when practising at home too.

The girls continue to go from strength to strength with their progress in reading.  They have all become much more fluent now and with further reinforcement of the phonics digraphs and trigraphs over the next few months this is sure to continue.

In our PSHCE lessons we have looked at what we would like to achieve in the near future.  The girls made some collective goals and are learning a little Italian and how to play some basic tunes on the ukulele.

We look forward to sharing our progress with you next half term in our Class Assembly.
