Nursery News 6th November 2023

10th November 23

This week we are thinking all about numbers 0 to 10. In our adult-led activity we thought about the song ’10 Green Bottles’. We changed the song to ’10 Plastic Bottles’ and talked about recycling. Some of the friends in the class then built a wall of bricks working cooperatively together and then we all worked together to order the bottles 1 to 10. We then sang our song and one by one we knocked the bottles off the wall. Great maths language Nursery and recognition of numerals. In ChIL we continued to use the resources to continue our learning and play outside.

In phonics this week we remembered our first sound ‘s’ and then learnt our new sound ‘a’. We drew a lower case ‘a’ in the air to learn the shape of it and learnt that there is also a capital ‘A’ and many of our friends names start with this. After learning the song and action we played a fun game matching objects beginning with ‘a’ and ‘s’ to letter tiles. Great work Nursery.

We’ve enjoyed outside play in the autumn sunshine drawing pumpkins, developing our fine motor skills using tweezers to pick up pasta and count it into pots and learning to develop interactive games with our friends.

On Friday we enjoyed a number themed Welly Walk finding numbers around the school and matching actions to the number. We did 5 star jumps, 3 hops, 7 twirls and more. When we arrived at our woodland area we ordered the numbers 0 to 10 and backwards 10 to 0. We then enjoyed singing lots of number songs to reinforce our learning further.

We also took a moment to think of people in the world who have helped us in the past or present and held a minutes silence. Well done Nursery on being so mature and kind.

Have a lovely weekend.
