House Cross-Country 2026

This year’s House Cross-Country event, held for the first time at Rothamsted Park, saw our Form III-VI girls represent York, Warwick and Lancaster in a true celebration of participation, perseverance and house pride.
Despite challenging underfoot conditions given weeks of rain and snow, the races were closely contested, with strong performances across all year groups. The girls spurred each other on throughout the course, demonstrating not only individual determination but also mutual encouragement, supportive cheers and a shared sense of purpose.
Congratulations go to Lancaster, who claimed the House title in both the Junior (FIII–IV) and Senior (FV–VI) races — a fantastic achievement reflecting the depth of effort and teamwork across the house.

Individual podium places were also keenly fought for, with Violet securing victory in the Senior race and Lizzie winning the Junior title. Both girls showed exceptional focus and stamina, setting an inspiring example to their peers.

House Cross-Country is about far more than finishing positions, however. It provides a valuable opportunity for the girls to challenge themselves, develop resilience and experience the importance of commitment and teamwork. Whether racing for a medal or simply aiming to complete the course, every participant contributed to the positive atmosphere and success of the event, showcasing St Hilda’s spirit in abundance.

Well done to all the girls who took part, and thank you to the staff and parent volunteers who supported and encouraged them throughout the afternoon. Events like this highlight the strength of our house system and the way sport at St Hilda’s helps build confidence, character and lasting friendships — even when the miles are muddy.

Come Home to St Hilda's 🕊️
For 135 years, generations of girls have walked through St Hilda’s red doors, forming friendships, creating memories and becoming part of a community that lasts long after school days are over.
To celebrate this special milestone, we are delighted to invite our alumni community to our very first St Hilda’s School Alumni Event, taking place on Saturday 19th September from 2-5pm.
Whether you left St Hilda’s recently or many years ago, we hope you’ll join us to reconnect with former classmates, families and staff, rediscover the school, and celebrate the traditions that have made St Hilda’s such a special place for 135 years.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to your school.
