Reception

St Hilda’s Reception offers a stimulating, exciting and welcoming environment for girls. The girls attend five full days from 8:20a.m. until 3:10p.m., with wrap around care offered between 7:30a.m. until 6:00p.m.

Our highly experienced Teacher and Early Years Practitioners provide a unique learning environment of exciting, thoughtful and inspiring learning opportunities. All seven areas of learning from the EYFS Curriculum are carefully planned and offered to the girls through a variety of activities. These include teaching skills and concepts in adult-led tasks, planned practical play-based activities as well as child-initiated learning indoors, outdoors and within our local community.

The girls are excited to learn as soon as they walk inside the classroom with a huge range of fine and gross motor skills based activities on offer in Busy Fingers, followed by Literacy and Mathematics adult-led tasks. The afternoons include topic based learning from across the EYFS curriculum including Music, French and PE taught by experienced specialist teachers.

The girls’ previous experiences, learning and ideas are carefully interwoven into each day, ensuring that each girl reaches her full potential and achieves secure development across the curriculum on this exciting learning journey.
