Destination Schools

Pupils from St Hilda’s go on to a wide range of local independent senior schools, and others into the excellent local state schools in the area.

As our pupils progress towards the top of the school, a key service we offer to them and their parents is support in choosing a senior school. This means identifying which senior school is the best match for your child, enabling them to continue to grow and thrive. When the time comes, we are delighted to help you make this key choice. The Headmaster meets with all parents, usually during the first term in Year 5, to discuss options for the child’s future and to begin an ongoing dialogue. He also maintains close relationships with all senior schools in the area, regularly visiting schools to gain an up to date understanding of their ethos and offering. Senior school staff are regularly invited to St Hilda’s to meet parents at our annual Secondary Transfer Fayre.

A strength of our school is the breadth and quality of senior schools to which we send pupils. The most important factor any parent should keep as their top priority is the happiness and wellbeing of their child. It is therefore important to consider carefully the advice given.

We pride ourselves in all of our children reaching their first choice of school. The information below provides details of which schools have received the most offers over the past 6 years, and the destination schools of our previous Year 6 cohort.

Each year, a number of scholarships are awarded to our leaving pupils. In the same 6 year period, a total of 70 scholarships and awards have been given to our Year 6 pupils, including all areas: academic, sport, art, drama and music.

My teachers remind me how lucky I was to come to St Hilda’s. Whenever I’ve needed help, they’ve helped me get back on my feet. They have taught me to be resilient.  I will never find teachers as caring, so I’d like to say thanks to all of them. Form VI Leaver 2023
