Ancient Egyptian Day

On Ancient Egyptian day, Form III and IV were transported back to the time of the pharaohs and learnt what life was like under the rule of Pharaoh Akhenaten, a controversial ruler known for his religious revolution.
The children looked fabulous in their outfits, dressed as Ancient Egyptians, Gods and Goddesses. The children spent the morning making canopic jars, embalming and creating offerings to take to the temple as offerings to the Gods. During the afternoon, it was time to entertain the Pharaoh and Queen with some dancing, acting and storytelling. Luckily, the Pharaoh enjoyed hearing about the Tale of the Wax Crocodile and spared everyone’s life!
We found out that Akhenaten had a son who later became Pharaoh. His name was Tutankhamun and we have been learning about him in our Humanities lessons. The children imagined what it would have been like to discover his tomb, which had laid hidden for thousands of years. They wrote diary entries as Howard Carter, the archaeologist who found Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922.

Her Story Starts Here
The very best stories have a strong beginning, and that is certainly the case at St Hilda’s.
In our Reception class, girls step into a world designed to nurture curiosity, build confidence and establish strong learning habits that support long-term academic growth. Girls are known, encouraged and celebrated for who they are — and who they are becoming.
Your daughter’s story starts here — and we can’t wait to see where it leads.
