The last two weeks have been busy with netball, football and hockey fixtures. On Tuesday 18th November, our U10 netball B and C teams played against Sherradswood (Away) – both our teams played very well against Sherradswood As and Bs, and it was wonderful to see the progress and improved confidence in game play. Our B team showed excellent passing and narrowly lost 1-2; our C team won 3-0.
On Thursday 20th November, King’s School came to St Hilda’s with their U9 netball team. We had three teams and each team played three 7 aside matches. For most of our girls, it was their first netball match and there was much excitement. After an excellent warm-up, our girls got into their positions and showed real progress in their passing, movement and great teamwork. Final scores: our Red team won 2-0, Blues 4-0, Greens lost 0-1.
On Friday 21st November, our U11 football squad travelled to Westbrook Hay to play in the London North ISA Football League. Our team played competitively and came 3rd in their Pool. We played 4 games, lost 2 and won 2. It was a difficult draw, as St Hilda’s competed against the eventual winners and runners up in the early stages of the tournament. Nevertheless, our girls showed great courage and individual skill and we learnt a lot from the experience.
On Tuesday 25th November our U9 hockey squad travelled to Akeley Wood Junior School in Milton Keynes for their annual hockey festival. We played 11 matches; won 3, lost 2, drew 6. The games were short and fast, and our girls showed skill, tenacity and teamwork. It was difficult to score in the small goals, and there were several near misses! Everyone enjoyed the day and made the most of the opportunity.
Our final netball fixture of the term was an U11 triangular tournament at Berkhamsted vs Habadashers and Berkhamsted. Our two teams played exceptionally well and won all their games.
Well done to all our girls, who have worked hard in lessons, competed for the School and impressed us with their positive approach, enthusiasm and teamwork.
