Superhero Day
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No…it’s the girls in Form II having an amazing Superhero Day! On Tuesday 7th October the girls in Form II celebrated their Superhero topic by having a Superhero Day. The girls did not wear their school uniform but came to school dressed in superhero costumes. During the day, the girls had to solve problems and challenges that required co-operation, perseverance and imagination.
After admiring their fabulous costumes, the girls got down to the serious business of deciding what their superpowers were. The girls thought carefully about what makes a superhero. They thought that kindness, thoughtfulness, resilience and positivity were all important characteristics for a superhero to have. They also thought about who their own superhero was and why. I wonder who your favourite superhero is?
The superheroes first task of the day was to make a cape for their superhero sidekick. A design was needed that reflected their sidekick’s superpower. The girls used fabric crayons to transfer their design onto the cotton material. Some ribbon was then glued to the cape. If you look carefully at the capes, you may be able to guess what the superpowers are.
After break, the girls had a mathematical puzzle to solve. The girls had to locate puzzle pieces to make up pictures of superheroes. Each puzzle piece had a number. When the pieces were all found and the pictures glued together, the mathematical puzzle could be solved by added together all the numbers.
In the afternoon, a special Superhero Day French lesson was followed by superpower team challenges in PE.
The final task of the day involved a rescue mission for their superhero assistant. The girls had to use straws and tape to build a ladder for the daring rescue mission. They all showed brilliant positive mindset as they used trial and error to succeed in this tricky task.
