District Sports
On Thursday last week we took a team of 16 athletes to Sir John Lawes to compete against 15 other local schools. It was a lovely scene with gazebos lined up along the inside of the track and parents seated on the grassy bank on a warm and sunny evening. As always, there was a great atmosphere, lots of cheering, wonderful support for each other and this year, a lot to celebrate. The girls did us proud bringing back 10 ‘tickets’ from the finish line! Prior to the track events, the field events had taken place: Imogen came 3rd in the javelin, throwing a personal best of 9m40. Notable successes on the track were in the Relay teams, with Year 3, 4 and 5 all qualifying for their Finals and our Year 3 finished 3rd place overall. In the Sprints, our Year 3, 5 and 6 competitors all qualified for their Finals; Lizzy finished 2nd overall and Violet finished 3rd, which was fantastic. In the distance events, our runners finished in the top 5, with Lucy achieving 3rd place overall for Year 3.
All in all, a wonderful evening of great camaraderie, teamwork and individual success.
Very well done girls!
National ISA Athletics Championships
Last Monday, Ella went to the Alexander Palace athletics stadium in Birmingham to represent London North in the Year 6 Relay team at the National ISA athletics competition. Her team did incredibly well to finish 1st overall and we are delighted for her that she came home with a Gold medal!
London Schools Ski Race
Our Ski team was also in action last weekend at the London Schools Ski Race held at Gosling Park. Our Year 3-4 team came 2nd overall, Year 5-6 came 1st overall and in the Dual Slalom event, we came 2nd! St Hilda’s were also awarded ‘Best Overall School’. Freya was the winner in her category, which was a major achievement. A huge congratulations to them all. They are competing today at the ESSKIA Championships, so there will be more news to follow!
