Sports News 6th June – ISA Athletics and U10 cricket

ISA Athletics at Bedford

Just before half-term, 12 girls went to Bedford on Thursday 22nd May to compete in the ISA Athletics against 25 other ISA schools.  The competition is very high at this level, and for many of our girls this was their first major competition.  The arena was full of competitors from Primary through to Secondary level and there were events going on on the track and field simultaneously.  Our girls did their best and showed resilience, independence and courage in all their events, as well as encouragement and support for one another, which was great to see.  A special mention to Ella and Lottie, who both came 3rd overall in the Sprints and for qualifying as reserves for the relay teams at the Nationals held next month.  Well done to the whole squad for their effort and positive attitude at this event.

U10 Softball Cricket

Form V girls played softball cricket against STAHS this week in a friendly game on our field.  We were very lucky that the rain stopped just before play was due to start.  With the sun out, the pitches soon dried out and all our girls played well in their respective teams putting on just enough runs to win.  The highlight was definitely playing the game and having tea at the end!  On Wednesday 8 girls from Form V went to Haileybury college to take part in a cricket festival against 16 other schools.  Our girls made great progress during the afternoon and finished with a win in the final round in the ‘Bowl’, which meant they came home with a medal!

It is great to see our girls enjoying cricket and all trying so hard.  They have all made much progress in their bowling, batting and fielding and have learnt the basic rules of the game.

Key Stage Two Taster Day
Her Next Chapter
Every great story evolves — and in their KS2 years at St Hilda’s, girls write their most exciting chapter yet.
Our girls are challenged, supported and inspired as they step into a learning environment designed to stretch their thinking and spark their ambition. They are known, encouraged and celebrated not just for who they are now, but for the story they are shaping for the future.
With specialist teaching, rich opportunities in and beyond the classroom, and a community that nurtures both resilience and joy, every girl discovers more about her strengths, her interests and her potential.
Come and experience it for yourself at our KS2 Taster Day — a chance for your daughter to begin her next chapter at St Hilda’s.
