The term has got off to a very positive start with plenty of sporting highlights. Last week our U10 and U11 netball teams played matches against Abbot’s Hill, with excellent results all round. This week, our U11 netball teams played against STAHS; our A team won convincingly, and our B team were unlucky not to capitalise on a strong start to their game.

The girls have been working hard on their fitness. We held the ‘Daily Mile’ on 22nd September, where pupils from Reception through to Form VI ran up to 16 laps of the field. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and smiles on everyone’s faces. There are some committed runners in Forms IV, V and VI and they continue to impress me with their eagerness to push themselves harder each week. Form VI have also enjoyed the opportunity to run to Rothamsted park, where they have set themselves their own target of running a couple of kilometres round the football fields.

We have had great success in skiing, with our A team qualifying for the ESSKIA National dry slope ski championships in Norwich next Saturday. Several girls competed in the ISA National indoor ski championships at Hemel on Monday. All three teams finished in 2nd, 3rd and 4th place overall, which is an incredible achievement given that this is a national event. Reva finished 2nd overall in the U10 category. Siena, Reva and Maisie have qualified to train with the English Alpine Ski Squad this year.

Alongside netball, we have been developing our skills in football and playing 5 aside games. We continue to focus on enjoying sport, having fun, playing games and building up resilience and stamina. Next week is busy with many different sporting events, and I look forward to seeing how our girls make the most of the opportunities ahead.
