St Hilda’s is unique in character and appeal and a special place to educate your child. I am delighted to welcome you to our website, which offers a broad flavour of all that takes place in our busy and vibrant School.
Our Authorfy creative writing club ended the term in true literary style with a Book Secret Santa.
Each girl chose and wrapped a book they loved, swapped presents, and then put their detective skills to the test as they tried to guess which fellow author-to-be had gifted their surprise read. There were big smiles, brilliant guesses, and lots of excitement about diving into new stories over the holidays.
Here’s to a community of readers, writers, and generous book-gifters.

Form II stepped back in time for a wonderful Florence Nightingale Day, arriving in school as Victorian nurses complete with aprons, bonnets and plenty of excitement.
From building a human timeline of Florence’s life to discovering her remarkable achievements, the girls explored history through hands-on learning — designing their own medals, making traditional toys, crafting “Lady with the Lamp” lanterns and even practising their nursing skills with careful bandaging.
The day finished with a very Victorian afternoon tea and plenty of laughter during deportment practice!
A fabulous blend of creativity, curiosity and learning come to life — a day our mini Florence`s won’t forget.

Our Reception class is the starting point of an exciting journey — where big ideas begin, friendships bloom, and every day brings a new adventure.
Guided by caring teachers within a warm and thoughtfully structured environment, young learners in Reception start to develop the skills and self-belief that will support them throughout their time at St Hilda’s, and beyond. The Reception year lays the foundations for a confident, well-rounded education, supporting children to discover the joy of learning through playful exploration, guided discovery and meaningful moments shared with friends.
Reception is a year full of wonder, where imagination leads the way and each girl starts to find her voice.
Will your daughter join us and discover hers?
We warmly invite all prospective 2026 families to our Reception Open Event on Thursday 4th December, at 9.30am. Meet our outstanding staff, tour our beautiful school and, of course, be inspired by our incredible girls. From fast-paced tournaments to fiercely contested fixtures, our girls rose to every sporting challenge this week.
🏀 The netball courts have been alive with activity, with our teams delivering strong performances across every age group. Our U10 B and C teams travelled to Sherrardswood for fixtures against their A and B sides. Both teams played with confidence and determination, and whilst the B team were narrowly edged out 1–2, the C team secured a 3–0 win.
At home, the U10s welcomed King’s for a lively 7-a-side tournament. It was wonderful to see every girl out on court, showcasing quick passing and excellent teamwork. Our Reds won 2-0, Blues won 4-0, and Greens were just pipped 0-1 – an overall 6–1 victory to St Hilda’s.
Finally, our U11 squads headed to Berkhamsted for matches against Berkhamsted and Habs. The A team delivered an exceptional performance, scoring a combined 30 goals across three matches and conceding none. The B team also impressed, winning all three fixtures and conceding only 2 goals in total.
⚽ On the football pitch, our U11s competed in the London North ISA League at Westbrook Hay. Facing an especially tough draw with two of the top teams, the girls played four competitive matches — winning two and losing two — finishing 3rd in their pool. They showed great courage, skill and resilience throughout.
🏑 Our U9s enjoyed a busy day at the ISA Hockey Festival at Akeley Wood, playing 11 fast-paced matches. They recorded 3 wins, 6 draws and just 2 losses, demonstrating excellent teamwork and tenacity. With small goals making scoring a challenge, there were several near misses, but the girls` enthusiasm stayed high and they made the most of every game.
Well done to all our girls on another week full of effort, progress and fantastic sporting spirit.
