Sport at St Hilda’s

Where Girls Are Free To Be Courageous

Inspiring confidence, building character, and celebrating every girl’s potential through sport

At St Hilda’s, sport is an integral and much-loved part of school life. We believe in the power of physical activity to foster resilience, boost self-esteem and support both physical and emotional well-being. Whether competing for the school in local, regional or national events, or simply enjoying physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle, every girl is given the opportunity to grow, shine and succeed.

From first steps to fierce competitors – sport is for every girl at St Hilda’s

Every girl, from our youngest pupils to those at the top of the school, is encouraged and supported to discover the joy of movement, the value of teamwork and the thrill of competition. Our pupils enjoy learning new skills in a supportive all-girls environment, and our wide-ranging sports curriculum offers every pupil the chance to participate, progress and excel. Whether on the netball court, athletics track or in the swimming pool, girls are taught by passionate and experienced staff, with access to specialist coaches in key disciplines.

Through regular PE lessons and a dynamic games programme, girls develop core physical skills and tactical understanding across multiple sports. Inter-House events encourage friendly competition and a strong sense of community, whilst our extensive fixtures list offers opportunities to represent St Hilda’s locally, regionally and nationally.

Our rich and engaging sports programme – on offer to all girls – includes:

Athletics Cricket
Netball Lacrosse
Cross Country Tennis
Hockey Gymnastics
Football Dance
Swimming Rounders

Igniting a passion for sport that lasts a lifetime

Whilst we take pride in our competitive achievements, our fundamental aim remains participation and enjoyment. Whether aspiring to elite performance or simply enjoying the camaraderie of team play, every girl is supported to thrive, embrace challenges and experience the benefits of sport beyond the scoreboard: motivation, discipline, self-esteem and teamwork.
