St Hilda’s School was founded in 1891 and has been on the current site for over a hundred years.  It is an integral part of the Harpenden community and is widely respected for its high standards and nurturing atmosphere.  Recent developments have included the completion of an ambitious building project that has seen the addition of 6 new classrooms and updating facilities including a Performing Arts Studio.  The School had a Compliance Inspection by ISI in November 2016, further to this an Education Inspection was carried out in October 2019 and was deemed excellent in all areas.

St Hilda’s has approximately 170 girls aged 2 – 11 years, also admitting a limited number of boys into the Nursery setting to accommodate sibling requirements.  From St Hilda’s, girls move on to the major independent schools in the area, including Haberdashers, St Albans High School, Berkhamsted and Abbot’s Hill.  Some girls move on to board at Queenswood, Haileybury or sometimes further afield, and also to some of the very successful local state sector schools.  In the last two years alone, the girls at St Hilda’s have amassed 24 scholarships and each year, almost all girls have been awarded their first choice of school.

Harpenden is a thriving residential town between Luton and St. Albans, with close proximity to the A1(M), M1 and M25 and easy access to national rail networks, including a 30 minute service to London.

Key Stage Two Taster Day
Her Next Chapter
Every great story evolves — and in their KS2 years at St Hilda’s, girls write their most exciting chapter yet.
Our girls are challenged, supported and inspired as they step into a learning environment designed to stretch their thinking and spark their ambition. They are known, encouraged and celebrated not just for who they are now, but for the story they are shaping for the future.
With specialist teaching, rich opportunities in and beyond the classroom, and a community that nurtures both resilience and joy, every girl discovers more about her strengths, her interests and her potential.
Come and experience it for yourself at our KS2 Taster Day — a chance for your daughter to begin her next chapter at St Hilda’s.
