St. Hilda’s School, a privately owned institution, was founded in 1891. In 1977, the school became a limited company and is now administered by a Board of Governors.
The premises include an adjacent field used for outdoor learning, sports, and break times, a tennis court, a small swimming pool, and attractive play areas for all age groups. In celebration of its Centenary, the school was extended to include a Hall, Nursery, and Art Room. The building underwent substantial improvements in 2012-2013, with the addition of a three-story extension that provided six new classrooms, enlarged classrooms in the centre of the building, a Science Lab, and a Computer Suite. In 2016, the school added a sound-proofed Performing Arts Studio on the top floor, the same year it celebrated its 125th Anniversary.
St. Hilda’s is a member of the Independent Schools Association and the Independent Schools Council. It was accredited by the Independent Schools Joint Council in 1981 and gained re-accreditation in 1996. The Senior Management Team consists of the Headmaster, Deputy Head, and School Business Manager.
St. Hilda’s last underwent a full inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in February 2024, with the school being compliant in all areas. Previous inspections took place in October 2019 and November 2016, both of which were successfully passed in all areas. All reports can be viewed by clicking here.
