Our Aims

Central Principles and School Aims

St Hilda’s School is an independent school for girls from rising 3 to 11 years. Although a girls’ school, St Hilda’s does take boys into the Nursery setting.

At St Hilda’s School, we welcome all children irrespective of race, religion, culture or disability.

Christian values and an appreciation of British values are essential to the life of the school and our core values are those of tolerance, respect for others, integrity, industry and achievement.

Our purpose is simple – through their journey at this school, to educate the whole child by developing their academic, emotional and physical needs so that they are prepared for life beyond St Hilda’s.  We take our responsibilities seriously to ensure that each pupil is given every opportunity to reach their potential and to become useful and considerate citizens of the future.

Our Aims are organised into four areas:

  • Nurture and celebrate the individual
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming school community where mental health and well-being are at its heart
  • Engage each child in a challenging and diverse range of learning opportunities
  • Inspire each child to realise their unique talents and reach for their full potential
Alongside our Aims we have six values.  These have been developed in close consultation with our pupils and staff to help remind us, through our Mission Statement, how to live out our Aims.  Each half term we focus on a different value, which is discussed in form time and assemblies.  Our values tree helps us to celebrate pupils who show demonstrable evidence of living these out.  We also use our house system to live out the five areas of wellbeing, which is achieved through house assemblies and charity events where our values also form a core part of our objective to foster a strong, supportive and cohesive community.

Our Values:

Positivity

Independence

Fearlessness

Respect
