Headmaster’s Welcome

A welcome from the Headmaster

A very warm welcome to our website, which offers a broad flavour of all that takes place in our busy and vibrant School.

Prospective parents often ask for a definition of our USP and this is, for me, encapsulated in our banner slogan nurturing the individual.  This is quantified in our daily aim to ensure that our pupils can access as broad a range of learning experiences as possible, developing resilience for our fast-changing world and all within a safe, caring and family atmosphere where the needs of each and every pupil are attended to.

St Hilda’s has been part of the Harpenden community for over 125 years and our pupils receive a first-class education.  Academic rigour, mixed with carefully differentiated and independent learning and creativity, allow every pupil to maximise their potential.

In a world where relentless pressure can cause huge anxiety for the rising generation of our society, our mission at St Hilda’s is to ensure that our pupils can develop self-confidence and self-worth as paramount aims.  This is summed up by these spontaneous comments of appreciation from parents whose pupils are at the beginning, middle and end of their St Hilda’s careers.  They speak louder than any words of mine.

If the pursuit of happiness is a life ideal, one only has to witness the arrival of the children each morning to see that you have achieved that so brilliantly.  You have opened the door to the world of education and have shown your pupils what an amazing and exciting place that can be.

Over the period that our child has been at St. Hilda’s, your amazing staff have encouraged and inspired her into a confident spirited individual once more.  I cannot thank you enough.

It goes without saying that the years have flown by but, in child-aged time, each day and week has had an impact and we are so grateful for all the positive influences our child has experienced at St Hilda’s.

I look forward to meeting you soon and giving you the opportunity to experience the spirit, energy and enjoyment which make St Hilda’s such a special place.
