As part of delivering our PSHCE curriculum, Forms IV and V spent a very enjoyable and interesting day last week at the Houses of Parliament. We had a fascinating tour, which included the House of Commons, the House of Lords, the Members’ Lobby and Westminster Hall and we learnt all about how Parliament works.
Afterwards, Form IV took part in a Laws and Debating workshop, simulating the process of passing a bill into law through active role-play. Form V participated in a Campaigning workshop, helping them to gain understanding on how they can make sure that their voice can be heard.
At the end of our sessions, we had the opportunity to meet and talk to Baroness Massey of Darwen. The girls were able to ask her all about her life and her role as a serving member of the House of Lords.
