Form I Activity Week

8th July 22

What a week!! On Monday, we had an amazing day at Legoland. We loved going on lots of rides within Duplo Valley, including a rollercoaster and train. We enjoyed a trip along Fairy Tale Brook, tour around Mini Land and a theatre show of The Pied Piper of Hamelin. We worked so hard in the Lego workshop, building super, strong castles for Ollie the Dragon. We ended the day with a trip on Sky Rider looking over the whole park. We can’t wait to visit again with our families.

The next day, we started the day with Puzzling Tuesday! Our last puzzle session in Form One. We then had a relaxed ERIC Time, reading books with our friends.

We were inspired by the Lego workshop and decided to make our own model using recyclable materials. We worked so well, thinking of ideas and sticking them together with masking tape! We thought our construction models looked great.

Next up was Bubble Workshop with Mrs Large and her team. We enjoyed learning more about bubbles. We enjoyed predicting which wand would make the best bubbles, which type of puff you need to use and which distance you have to hold the wand at! We learnt a lot and had lots of fun too.

Wednesday was a sporty day! We started the day with Football and the Colts’ trainers. We learnt how to dribble, jog with the ball, score game and even played some games. One thing we found hard on the sloped pitches was keeping the ball on the correct pitch. It didn’t stop us though; we just kept playing!!

A hard earned lolly was enjoyed by everyone afterwards.

Next up was swimming with Mrs Halliday and Mrs Matthews with everyone swimming into the deep end and an amazing go of  Tug of War! We went into our houses within the class and after a quick demonstration by Mrs Matthews and Mrs Bishop, it was our turn. We had such a fun time trying to pull the rope over the mid line. Lots of laughter ensued!

We had a few minutes of free play and enjoyed both climbing and lying down in the shade!

Finally, we enjoyed hearing about the amazing Olympian Montell Douglas. We loved listening to her incredible journey, from playing tennis as a toddler to being the fastest 100 metre sprinter and member of the bobsleigh team. We took part in a vigorous workout with Monty and then collapsed in a heap on the field. It’s hard work being an Olympian!

On Thursday and Friday we took part in the amazing Leaver’s Service for the Form VI girls. We have loved playing with them and will miss them greatly. Phew! A lovely end to such a busy week. We can’t stop now…. We are cartwheeling off into summer. Have an amazing summer holiday girls. You have been superstars this year! Love, Mrs Bishop, Mrs Weir and Mrs Matthews xxx
