21st May 21
It was lovely to welcome back the Nursery boys and girls to the classroom on Monday morning! They were full of their weekend news and excited for the week ahead. We had a lovely carpet time talking about our previous zoo experiences and what everybody hopes to see on our trip to Whipsnade Zoo tomorrow! The girls and boys used wooden blocks and tiny animals to make their own zoo enclosures during Busy Fingers which led to interesting conversations about why animals are living in zoos, where they would live in their natural habitat and why we need enclosures in zoos.
We were also delighted to award some Listening Lily tokens today because of fantastic listening and manners! What a lovely way to start the week!
On Tuesday we were so excited to go on our trip to Whipsnade Zoo! Everybody arrived with their packed lunch and raincoats and after a quick Busy Fingers session and a visit to the toilet we boarded the coach with our friends in the Reception class. We arrived at the zoo and began our adventure seeing Lemurs, Chimpanzees, a braying Zebra (which caused an awful lot of laughter from the children and the adults!), Rhinos, Flamingos, Tigers and Elephants to name just a few! We were all so well behaved all day and the adults looking after us were so very impressed at how well we behaved and how far we walked! What a lovely trip we had!
Please visit our Tapestry App for photos from the trip!
On Wednesday we had a lovely carpet session looking at the photos from our trip to the Zoo and we played a listening and speaking game to let our friends and teachers know what we enjoyed most about the Zoo trip and what our favourite animals were that we saw. The girls and boys were very good at listening to what each other had to say and managed to wait for their turn to share their news.
Thursday had arrived and we had a busy day ahead of us. In our Music lesson with Mrs Lipman we sang all our show songs. using all the actions that we have learnt and also performed our dance, We can’t believe that our show is next week, we are so excited!
After snack time we learnt our new sound ‘j’ and enjoyed singing our jelly song and wobbling along. We recapped all the sounds and actions that we have previously learnt, spotted capital letters and lower case letters and tried to spot items in the ‘j’ story that began with ‘j’.
We ended the morning with a lovely indoor ChIL. The children were busy using the screwdrivers, making zoos, making flowers and counting keys. Some of the children worked together to make a lovely rainbow.
On Friday we came to school all dressed in our own clothes. We were raising money for people in India who are very poorly at the moment and they need our help to get better. We talked about how it is nice to think of others who may not be as lucky as us.
We painted some lovely sun shines for some headbands that we are going to wear for our show next week. We are very excited for the show, you will love it. We are super cute when we sing our songs.
Lots of us were very tired today and it was very, very windy, so instead of our Well walk we had a long indoor ChIL working on our ‘What’s Next’ steps. We had a lovely time and it was good to have a calm morning after such a busy week.
Next week we shall perform or show ‘Croak’ and our topic work will be on the life cycle of the frog.
