25th March 21
We welcomed the children back to the Nursery classroom on a lovely sunny Monday morning! We started with a super Busy Fingers session where the children began to make their beautiful Easter cards.
After this we introduced the new topic for the week of ‘Mythical Creatures and Extinct Animals’. The children were engrossed during the carpet session, contributing to the discussion on Dinosaurs and Dodo’s, Dragons and Unicorns. We talked about the words ‘fossil’ and ‘extinct’ and the children used some lovely language to describe the creatures and share their knowledge.
We finished the morning with a sunny story in the Outdoor Classroom with Mrs Houten.
On Tuesday we learned our new sound ‘u’. The girls and boys are getting very good at identifying the objects in the story they listen to that begin with the initial sound of the week. We listened to and sang the song to help us to learn the sound and everyone had a turn at writing the letter with the correct formation both in the air and on the interactive whiteboard.
We were also working very hard writing the inside of our Easter cards. The children have been incredible showing us how they hold their pencil in the correct way to form the letters and also with their brilliant phonic knowledge!
On Wednesday morning we had a great French lesson with Madame Knight playing a game to find the correct coloured item in the classroom. Madame Knight sang a song with the French word for each colour and we found cups, cushions, plates. bricks to match.
After a snack Mrs Radgman showed us an enormous jar full of Easter eggs. We had to make an estimate of how many were in it and if we’re very lucky we might win it! The guesses ranged between 2 and a trillion.
As we have been working so hard throughout the last half term and our marble jar was full we were lucky enough to have a party! The theme was ‘animals’ and there were some amazing costumes! We went on our weekly Welly Walk and were very surprised to find the Easter Bunny had visited! We searched for some paper eggs with numbers on, transformed into bunnies and hopped the corresponding number of hops! When we had found all of the paper eggs we returned to the Outside Classroom and we shocked to see some real chocolate eggs hidden!! Thank you the Easter Bunny!
Sorry, but our camera broke today so please look on Tapestry for photos!
We wish you all a fantastic Easter holiday period and we look forward to seeing everyone back again in the Summer Term.
