Nursery News 28th February 2020

28th February 20

Welcome back after half term!!  We hope you had a wonderful break, with some fun and games and rest too!  Welcome too to our new members of the class, Bea, Jacob and Amelie.

The girls and boys came back to school on Monday morning brilliantly!  They settled very quickly into our Busy Fingers activities (PD, M,) and enjoyed learning about our new topic for the week of Farm Animals.  We chatted about the animals and the names of the baby animals you might find on the farm (UW). The children sang Old MacDonald has a Farm and matched the sounds the animals make to the puppet animal (UW, EAD).

After a very calm and hard working Busy Fingers on Tuesday morning the Nursery girls started their phonics session, learning their new sound ‘m’ (CL).  They also started learning about alliterations (Literacy)!!  How grown up!

The Pre-Nursery children learnt how important it is to use our listening ears.  They played a really tricky game where they could only use their ears to work out what the object was (CL).

We had another wonderfully calm and productive Busy Fingers session on Wednesday morning playing and understanding the game of dominoes, painting with the watercolours and learning how to play as part of a group with the Incy Wincy Spider game (M, PD, EAD, CL).

We had a super Physical Development lesson on the tennis courts this morning too.  The children were searching for the correct farm animal, the animals’ young or the sound the animals make (PD, KU).

Next it was Music with Mrs Lipman in the hall.  Mrs Lipman had created some new songs for us to learn using some tunes that we already knew! We had great fun leaning the new actions and words (EAD).

We were very pleased to welcome Jacob to the class this morning!!  During our French lesson on Thursday morning we learnt the names of some farm animals in French and enjoyed a story about Mog at the V.E.T (UW).  After this we went to have some snowy fun on the field (PD, UW)!  We made tiny snowmen and rolled up some snowballs as well as making loads of snowy footprints!

Following this we warmed up with some snack and sang some songs in our music lesson with Mrs Lipman (EAD).  We also squeezed in a session of Sticky Kids just before some of us went to lunch and others went home (PD)!! Phew!! What a busy morning!

Our weekly welly walk took place on Friday morning and it was a soggy one!!  Spot the Dog had hidden some clues for us to find and we were such good detectives! We found a pig, a cow, a house, a jug and a book amongst other things!  The girls and boys worked out that the clues were all to do with the story A Squash and a Squeeze!  We enjoyed listening to the story and acting it out in the summer hut (CL, EAD, PD).

After such a super busy week we hope you all have a restful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all again next week!

Our topic for next week will be birds.
