Reception Weekly News 7th February

7th February 20

We kick started Wellbeing Week with an amazing GoNoodle to Elton John’s ‘I’m still standing!’ What a multi-coloured, multi-sensory and funky start to the week!

We then enjoyed taking part in House Assembly in three different rooms with our older friends from around the school.

We needed a little relax so we took some time out with a Cosmic Kids Yoga. Mr Sayers joined in with our yoga session, stretching and relaxing together.

We then turned into actresses with Emily from Perform. We went on an adventure around the world with Phileas Fogg. We travelled to Australia on the aeroplane and helped him to solve a mystery. What a fun adventure! We could not stop laughing!

In the afternoon, we loved joining with the big girls to work on a creative activity, weaving. We can’t wait to see what Mrs Rigby does with all of our sewing and weaving!

On Tuesday, we loved travelling to Beechwood Park School. We made little friendship bracelets in pairs to show the Fairies and Elves who live in the woods that we are their friends. Miss Sewell then told us that Sneezy the Dragon had visited the woods the night before and had a huge sneezing fit. He had accidently blown down all the Elf and Fairy houses. We worked in groups to rebuild the houses for our little friends. We hope they liked our efforts!

On Wednesday, we enjoyed another House Assembly with our older friends.

We took part in an amazing Zentangle Workshop with Mrs Taylor’s Mummy. She has designed doodling books for children, and we loved having a go at copying her style of doodles.

In the afternoon, we had a visit from Tash from the Mini Professors. We learnt all about the Polar Regions of the Arctic and the Antarctic. We learnt about which animals live there, what the weather is like, who lives there and is which kind of houses. We watched as Tash built her own igloo with ice cubes and had a go ourselves using sugar cubes. We then watched a short clip all about the Polar Regions before making our own scene using icebergs, arctic animals and igloos. Wow!  What a fun and informative session.

On Thursday we read a poem called The Magic Box. It was full of things we can’t actually hold, like a baby’s smile and the tip of a tongue touching a tooth. We then looked inside Mrs Kendall’s Box of Special Things and came up with ideas of what we would put in a special box. We came up with some lovely ideas such as ‘Mummy’s perfume smell’ and ‘Rosemary’. We wrote our ideas on hearts and sprayed them with rose perfume and put them in a lovely box to keep.

After playtime, we rehearsed for our performance and in the afternoon we had a House Assembly with the bigger girls, followed by a cutting activity in which we cut coloured foam and stuck it to silver discs to make flowers. What a fun, relaxing afternoon!

On Friday, we had a final dress rehearsal for our show.  We then had a yoga session followed by lunch.  In the afternoon we finished Wellbeing Week with some meditation and mindfulness relaxion on cushions on the floor.  What a relaxing week!  Have a wonderful weekend and see you next week for ‘Show Week’!
