Reception Weekly News 18th October

18th October 19

We have been busy thinking about how we can keep ourselves clean and healthy. On Monday, we made posters to remind our parents of ways to help us, washed and cleaned the babies and made a healthy packed lunch in Literacy.

In Mathematics, we loved playing a counting game ‘Whack-a-Mole’ on the smartboard.

In the afternoon, we put on some cosy autumnal music and enjoyed painting our hands with autumn colours to make a leaf wreath for our front doors!

On Tuesday, we had a busy Busy Fingers seeing who had more or less feathers in their log in one minute!

We revised a new sound ‘l’, designed our own lollies, made lions’ mane and even ate an ice-lolly for snack time!

On Wednesday, we enjoyed making autumn wreaths with our handprints.

In Literacy, we revised a new sound ‘f’, made frogs on logs, practised writing ‘f’ and blended sounds to read words beginning with ‘f’.

In our Topic time we loved icing our home-made biscuits to look like ourselves. We can’t wait to eat them during our Pyjama Party on Friday!

On Thursday, we welcomed our parents into the classroom for a Stay and Play session. We had great fun doing some sewing, some playdough modelling and some Magformers with them. It was fun to show our parents all of our lovely work on display too.

We then learned the sound, ‘b’. We made some delicious banana milkshake!  We all had a try and 7 out of 10 of us really enjoyed it and drank it all up! We then practised our blending and letter formation in our Jolly Phonics workbooks.

In the afternoon, we finished making our puppets that we started in the morning. We finished the sewing and then made faces and put accessories on them. They look fabulous!

On Friday, we had our Pyjama Party! It was such good fun, we all loved wearing our pjs at school! We played some fun party games and ate our delicious biscuits that we decorated earlier in the week.  We are all well and truly ready for our half term break! Have a wonderful holiday everyone, see you on Monday 4th November.
