Nursery Weekly News 26th April 2019

26th April 19

Welcome back to Nursery. This week we are having an exciting time with lots of lovely Easter activities.

On Wednesday morning we welcomed our new friends Gracie and Charlotte to Nursery. It was lovely to have nine Nursery children.

We had a great ‘Busy Fingers’ painting, making Easter eggs out of playdough, playing with the farm and building with Duplo.

We then talked about why we celebrate Easter and talked about new life beginning from an egg, (PSE and UW). This is why we give each other chocolate eggs at Easter. We then joined together with our Reception friends and made chocolate nests and decorated Easter egg shape decorations, (EAD).

After a quick outside ChIL exploring our new Garden Centre role-play area we went for our Music lesson with Mrs Harte. We sang lots of songs and pretended to be little speckled frogs jumping into the pond.

On Thursday morning we made some lovely Easter baskets for our Easter egg hunt on Friday. We used our strong fingers to peel all the backs off the Easter stickers, (PD).

We also played with numbered Easter eggs trying to put the right number of chicks into the egg, (Maths and PD).

In our adult-led activity we joined together with Reception to make Easter bunny biscuits. We identified and mixed all the ingredients and then cut out our bunnies, (PD, Maths and UW). They look yummy!

In the afternoon we made some lovely Easter pictures using pom poms in paint and marbles in paint, (EAD).

After a lovely outside ChIL in the sunshine we finished off our afternoon with a ‘Sticky Kids’ music and movement session, (PD and EAD).

Friday arrived and it was the end of our special Easter week of activities. After a quick ‘Busy Fingers’ we put on our amazing Easter bonnets and crowns and went with Reception to the hall where Mrs Comer was waiting to admire our creations. We paraded around to some Spring music and then told Mrs Comer how we had made our hats, (CL and PSE). Mrs Comer was so impressed with our efforts and awarded two prizes. Thea won the Nursery prize and Annabel won the Reception prize. Well done everyone.

We then heard that the Easter bunny had visited St Hilda’s. We raced around the school finding paper eggs. Once we had two each we were able to exchange them for a real chocolate eggs which we put into our Easter baskets.

After a fabulous outside ChIL we finished our special week watching a little bit of Peter Rabbit with our Reception friends.

Next week we begin our ‘New Life’ topic work with the ‘Life Cycle of a Seed’. Have lovely weekends.
