What a hot week we have had in Reception!
At the beginning of the week we heard about an exciting gardening competition. We found out that lots of classes were making scarecrows using recyclable materials and we were going to make improvements to our amazing Bug Hotel. We quickly set to work, making labels for the minibeasts, making a log pile house, planting and watering!
On Monday, in Busy Fingers, we enjoyed making minibeasts with Tap a shape, building with Mobilo, making model butterflies with Air Dough and making beautiful butterfly crowns.
On Tuesday, we turned our feet into rainbow butterflies! We loved having our feet painted, screaming with laughter as we were so ticklish! We printed them carefully and couldn’t wait to see them turned into butterflies.
In Mathematics, we took time to make symmetrical butterflies, looking carefully at the wing and trying to replicate it.
In ChIL, we enjoyed making more complex peg patterns, matching teens number ducks to nests, designing detailed collages and making play dough cakes and petits fours!
On Wednesday, we continued making our rainbow butterflies and enjoyed making butterfly collages. We also made butterfly life cycles to add to our new classroom display.
On Thursday, we had a sports day practice. We really enjoyed practising our races and watching the older girls run really fast. Our favourite thing was to cheer for our friends.
During ChIL, we had a construction afternoon. We tried to build the tallest and widest structures and longest bridges.
On Friday, we had lots of fun in our dress rehearsal. Mrs Wallace and Miss Smith were very impressed with how well we remembered our lines and dance. We loved looking at everyone else’s costumes and watching the other classes perform their lines.
In the afternoon, we swam with Mrs Rushbrook. Mrs Matthews and Miss Smith joined us in the pool! Mrs Wallace was very cross not to have her swimming things at school. It was lovely in the pool!
We have had a very fun week.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and celebrating our Year in Reception with you.
